Lake El Salto Bass Fishing

Lake El Salto is one of Mexico’s hottest bass fishing destinations, the lake itself is a covers about 26,000 acres and is absolutely loaded with trophy sized bass! In fact Lake El Salto has given up more double digit bass than any other trophy bass lake in the world!

Lake El Salto was stocked with its first largemouth bass in 1986, which came from a Florida impoundment. Since that time the population of largemouth bass has flourished and have multiplied into the largest concentration of trophy sized largemouth bass on the planet. It is because of Mexico’s warm weather and the warm waters of Lake El Salto that these bass have become some of the biggest in the world and also the most aggressive.

Lake El Salto is located in western Mexico, just north of Mazatlan in Sinaloa Mexico. El Salto, as mentioned above is a 26,000 acre largemouth bass impoundment that was created by the damming of the Elota River in 1986. The waters of El Salto are crystal clear almost year round and have a maximum depth of about 145′.

If you decide to take a bass fishing trip to Lake El Salto you should have no problem hooking into bass with your favorite baits, the bass of El Salto are aggressive and willing to hit just about anything. A good variety of crank baits, soft plastics and spinners will do you just fine. To give you an idea of what I mean by aggressive bass, it is not uncommon to catch 80+ big bass in a days time!
